Apostle Bartholomew

1st century · Albanopolis, Armenia · Feast June 11

Bartholomew is usually identified with Nathanael of Cana, whom Philip brought to Christ. Christ said of him, “Behold an Israelite indeed, in whom there is no guile.” By tradition he preached in India and Armenia with St. Philip, and in Armenia he was flayed and crucified for converting the king’s family. The Armenian Church counts him, with St. Thaddeus, as its founder.
