Apostle Jude Thaddeus

1st century · Edessa · Feast June 19

Jude, also called Thaddeus and Lebbaeus, was a kinsman of Christ and brother of St. James. At the Last Supper he asked the Lord why He would show Himself to the disciples and not to the world. He wrote the short Epistle of Jude, urging Christians to “contend for the faith once delivered to the saints.” By tradition he preached in Edessa, Mesopotamia and Armenia and was martyred near Mount Ararat.
