St. Aidan of Lindisfarne
King Oswald of Northumbria asked Iona for a missionary, and Aidan came in 635. He founded a monastery on the tidal island of Lindisfarne and walked everywhere so he could talk with whoever he met. He gave away the horse a king gave him to the first beggar he met. He trained the men who would evangelise England.
