St. David of Wales
David founded a monastery in the far west of Wales where the monks lived simply, ploughing the fields themselves and drinking only water. While he preached at Llanddewi Brefi the ground rose under him so all could hear. His last words to his monks were “Be joyful, keep the faith, and do the little things you have heard and seen me do.”
- Feast: March 1 (New Calendar)
- Lived: c. 500–589
- Place: St Davids, Wales
