St. George of Ioannina
George was an orphan who worked as a groom for the Ottoman soldiers in Ioannina. Some Muslims claimed he had once been one of them, and he was arrested. He was offered gifts and promotion and then tortured, but he would not deny Christ, and he was hanged in 1838 at 30, leaving a wife and baby son. He is the patron saint of Ioannina.
