St. Herman of Kazan
Herman was a monk of Staritsa who became the second archbishop of Kazan after the city was taken by Ivan the Terrible. He founded schools and monasteries and won converts by gentleness, opposing forced baptism. When he rebuked the Tsar for the terror of the Oprichnina, he was removed and died in Moscow.
