St. Joseph of Damascus

Joseph Mhanna al-Haddad was a married priest of Damascus and a great scholar of Arabic, Greek and theology, who ran a school and taught for decades. In July 1860, during a massacre of thousands of Christians in Damascus, he was killed while trying to protect the Holy Gifts in his church. He was glorified by the Church of Antioch in 1993.
