St. Justin Popović

Justin was a Serbian monk who studied in St. Petersburg, Oxford and Athens and became one of the great theologians of the 20th century. When the communists took power they dismissed him from the university, and he spent his last thirty years at the small convent of Ćelije near Valjevo. There he wrote his great Lives of the Saints in twelve volumes, and his spiritual children came to him from all over Serbia. He reposed on the feast of the Annunciation in 1979.
