Saint
St. Marina the Great Martyr
Marina was the daughter of a pagan priest in Antioch of Pisidia, raised by a Christian nurse. At fifteen she refused to marry the governor Olybrius and confessed Christ. In prison, the tradition says, the devil appeared to her and she beat him with a hammer, which is how she is often shown in icons. She was beheaded around 304. Many Greek and Lebanese churches are named after her.
