The Eastern Cross/Orthodox World/St. Basil of Ostrog

Saint
St. Basil of Ostrog
Basil was born in Herzegovina and became a monk and then bishop of Zahumlje, defending his flock against Ottoman oppression and pressure to give up Orthodoxy. In old age he withdrew to a cave high in the cliffs of Ostrog in Montenegro and built a small church there. His relics rest in that cliff monastery, and Orthodox, Catholics and Muslims all come to pray there, many reporting healings.
