St. John of Kronstadt

1829–1908 · Kronstadt · Feast December 20

Fr. John Sergiev served for 53 years at St. Andrew’s Cathedral in the naval town of Kronstadt. He served the Liturgy every day, visited the poorest homes, and founded a House of Industry where the jobless could find work, food and schooling. Thousands came to his services, and so many asked to confess that he held general confessions. People across Russia wrote to ask his prayers, and many healings were reported. His diary, My Life in Christ, is still widely read.
