Sts. Peter and Fevronia of Murom

Prince Peter of Murom fell ill with sores that no one could cure, until Fevronia, a wise peasant girl, healed him on condition that he marry her. He broke his promise at first, fell ill again and returned humbled. They ruled Murom together with love and justice. In old age they became monastics and asked to be buried in one coffin, and they died on the same day. Russia celebrates their feast as a day of family and love.
