The Eastern Cross/Orthodox World/Apostle John the Theologian

Saint
Apostle John the Theologian
John, son of Zebedee, was the youngest of the Twelve and the disciple whom Jesus loved. He leaned on the Lord’s breast at the Last Supper, stood at the Cross, and there received the Theotokos into his home as his own mother. He wrote the fourth Gospel, three letters, and the Book of Revelation, which he received in exile on Patmos. He is the only one of the Twelve who was not martyred. In old age in Ephesus, they say, his whole sermon was, “Little children, love one another.”
