St. Dorotheos of Gaza

6th century · Gaza · Feast June 5

Dorotheos was an educated young man who became a monk at Seridos under Sts. Barsanuphius and John. He ran the monastery infirmary and later founded his own community. His Discourses and Sayings teach humility, obedience and love with simple examples, such as his image of the world as a circle, where the closer we come to God the closer we come to one another.
