St. Gorazd of Prague
Matěj Pavlík was a Czech Catholic priest who became Orthodox and was consecrated bishop of the small Czech Orthodox Church. In 1942 the paratroopers who killed the Nazi leader Heydrich hid in the crypt of his cathedral of Sts. Cyril and Methodius in Prague. When they were found, Bishop Gorazd took the blame to protect his people. He was shot, and the Czech Orthodox Church was banned for the rest of the war.
