St. Wenceslas of Bohemia

c. 907–935 · Prague · Feast September 28

Wenceslas was raised a Christian by St. Ludmila and became Duke of Bohemia as a young man. He built churches, cared for the poor and the prisoners, and the English carol remembers him carrying wood through the snow to a poor man. His brother Boleslav invited him to a feast and murdered him at the church door on his way to Matins. He is the patron of the Czech lands.
