St. Iakovos of Evia
Iakovos Tsalikis was born in Asia Minor and came to Evia as a refugee child in the population exchange of 1922. He was a simple, prayerful villager who became a monk at the monastery of St. David, and later its abbot. For decades crowds came to him for confession and counsel, and many were healed by his prayers. He accepted suffering and illness with joy, and reposed in 1991.
