St. Longinus the Centurion
Longinus was the Roman centurion who stood guard at the Crucifixion, and when he saw the earthquake and darkness he said, “Truly this was the Son of God.” He was also set to guard the tomb and saw the Resurrection, and he refused the bribe to say the body had been stolen. He left the army, was baptized, and went home to Cappadocia, where he was beheaded on the orders of Pilate.
