Saint
St. Paisios the Athonite
Arsenios Eznepidis was born in Cappadocia in 1924 and baptized by St. Arsenios, just before his family came to Greece as refugees. He served as a radio operator in the army and then became a monk, living at Sinai and finally in a small hut on Mount Athos. Tens of thousands visited him, and he gave them simple, often humorous advice with deep love. He reposed in 1994 and is buried at the convent of Souroti near Thessaloniki, where crowds still come every day.
