Sts. Adrian and Natalia

died c. 305 · Nicomedia · Feast August 26

Adrian was a pagan officer in Nicomedia. Seeing how the Christian prisoners suffered, he asked what reward they hoped for, and when they answered, he had his own name written with theirs. His young wife Natalia, a secret Christian, encouraged him in prison and held his hands as the executioners broke his limbs. She took one of his hands home, and she died soon after at his tomb.
