Sts. Cyprian and Justina

died 304 · Nicomedia · Feast October 2

Cyprian was a famous sorcerer of Antioch. A young man paid him to win the Christian girl Justina, but every spell failed when she made the sign of the Cross. Shaken, Cyprian burned his books of magic, was baptized, and later became a bishop. He and Justina were beheaded together at Nicomedia. Their prayers are read against evil spirits.
