The Eastern Cross/Library/The Life of Malchus, the Captive Monk
The Life of Malchus, the Captive Monk
Malchus left his monastery against his abbot's advice and was captured by desert raiders, who made him a shepherd and tried to force a wife on him. He told St. Jerome his story himself when he was an old man.
It is short and reads like an adventure, with a lesson on obedience and chastity.
