The service of the Holy Eucharist, given in full: the Office of Oblation, where the priest prepares the bread and wine; the Liturgy of the Catechumens, with the litanies, the Little Entrance, the Epistle and the Gospel; and the Liturgy of the Faithful, with the Great Entrance, the Creed, the Anaphora and Holy Communion.

The prayers the priest says quietly at the altar are printed here too, and wherever St. Basil's Liturgy differs, his prayers are given alongside in square brackets. Hapgood also includes the directions for a service led by a bishop and the prayers after Communion.

About this edition

From the Service Book of the Holy Orthodox-Catholic Apostolic (Greco-Russian) Church, translated and arranged by Isabel Florence Hapgood (Boston: Houghton, Mifflin and Company, 1906). Our text was made from scans of the printed book and checked against three separate scans; if you spot a mistake, tell us in the server.

This translation is in the public domain. We took the text from the Christian Classics Ethereal Library and left out the editors’ footnotes.
