The Eastern Cross/Library/The Order of Confession
The Order of Confession
The service the priest reads with someone coming to confession: the opening prayers, Psalm 51, the priest's exhortation and the prayer of absolution, in the form used in the Russian Church.
Reading it beforehand takes some of the fear out of a first confession.

About this edition
From the Service Book of the Holy Orthodox-Catholic Apostolic (Greco-Russian) Church, translated and arranged by Isabel Florence Hapgood (Boston: Houghton, Mifflin and Company, 1906). Our text was made from scans of the printed book and checked against three separate scans; if you spot a mistake, tell us in the server.
This translation is in the public domain. We took the text from the Christian Classics Ethereal Library and left out the editors’ footnotes.
Books help, but they don’t replace the life of the Church. If something here raises a question, bring it to your priest. No parish yet? Find one near you.
