Apostle James, son of Zebedee
James and his brother John were fishermen whom Christ called “Sons of Thunder.” With Peter, they saw the raising of Jairus’ daughter, the Transfiguration and the agony in Gethsemane. King Herod Agrippa had James beheaded in Jerusalem around 44 (Acts 12:2), the first Apostle to die for Christ. His relics are venerated at Santiago de Compostela in Spain.
