Saint
St. Ephraim of Nea Makri
Ephraim was a monk of the monastery of the Annunciation near Marathon. In 1426 Turkish raiders tortured him for eight months and killed him, hanging him from a mulberry tree. He was forgotten until 1950, when the nun Makaria, rebuilding the ruined monastery, was led by a dream to dig and found his relics. Many miracles have followed.
