Saint
St. Leo the Great
Leo was Pope of Rome from 440 to 461. His letter on the two natures of Christ, the Tome of Leo, was read at the Council of Chalcedon, where the bishops cried out, “Peter has spoken through Leo.” In 452 he went out to meet Attila the Hun and persuaded him to turn back from Rome, and three years later he talked the Vandals out of burning the city.
